Saluki Way

Half-percent increase to provide Saluki Way funds

This article is from Daily Egyptian. It is about the event that most of the City Council decision-makers vote the increase of the taxes.
The money should come from city services, organizations, and should be used also for construction of public safety service as well as fire station replacement. The dissidences happen when it were about to provide more money to Saluki Way: $2.3 million annually. Some members of the audience like SIU President agreed but some argue that they should take in account that the money is for many purposes, actually for all the city services and the amount chose for Saluki Way is too much. Finally, it result that Carbondale citizen will pay a half-percent increase tax and then will become the most important donor of Saluki Way. Saluki Way get by the way a large amount of money because it has also raised another funds from donation and contributions when the city is left small amount to solve his common expenses.

I am interested with this article because it is amazing that most of the city money is used to support sport and to let behind some social issues as security, health, education. It can be frustrating for people who do not like sport or who will not get some services because the money were used for sport. Beside it, we can notice how sport passion can catch people and become their favorite thing. Any way should city money used for only university sport?
